ANNA MAE DEEL - Clarksburg, formerly of Calhoun

Mrs. Anna Mae Deel, 82, of Clarksburg, formerly of Charleston, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at 11:50 pm. at United Hospital Center following a brief illness.

She was born December 15, 1920 in Woodbine, Nicholas County, a daughter of the late C. Hobert and Jane Arnold Jarvis.

Her husband, Homer H. Deel, whom she married January 2, 1941, preceded her in death on September 30, 1981. Mrs. Deel was also preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Harold Lynn and Mae Deel of Asheville, N.C., two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Shirley Ann and Gene Murphy of Norton, Ohio, and Mrs. Barbara S. and James F. Reed of Clarksburg; one sister, Wanda Spartage of Mogadore, Ohio; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Deel was a member of the Duff Street United Methodist Church. She graduated from Clay County High School. She retired in 1984 after 18 years of service as a medical records clerk for the state of West Virginia.

A funeral service will be held at the Duff Street United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 10 a.m. Mrs. Deel will then be moved to Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg for visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by interment in the Minnora Cemetery in Calhoun County.

Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
