LARGE NUMBER CASES BEFORE CALHOUN CIRCUIT COURT

Judge Anita Ashley held Circuit Court in Calhoun County on Monday, processing a rather lengthy docket, according to Prosecutor Shannon Johnson.

Kyle Farrell appeared for a First Appearance. The Court noted that it would grant the request of the Prosecuting Attorney for the Court to appoint a Special Prosecutor due to an existing conflict. The case will come on again for hearing on August 20, 2020.

Jedidiah Stutler appeared for a Status Hearing. The Court found that Mr. Stutler had successfully completed the Anthony Correctional Center for Youthful Offenders program. The Court placed Mr. Stutler on two years supervised probation.

Robert Beckett appeared for a Pre-Trial Hearing. His case was set for Trial on August 18, 2020.

Kimberly Duskey appeared and entered a guilty plea to Possession with Intent to Deliver and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Felony, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Misdemeanor. The Court will hold a hearing on August 26, 2020 to decide whether or not to accept the plea.

Kenneth Meadows appeared for a First Appearance and an Arraignment. His case was set for trial on October 6, 2020.

The Court also heard thirteen juvenile cases.

Judge Anita Ashley returned to Calhoun County on July 28, 2020 for Jury Selection and Jury Trials in several matters, according to Prosecutor Johnson.

Eugene Bowe entered a plea of guilty to two counts of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, both felonies. He will be sentenced on September 22, 2020.

Frederick Tanner entered a plea of guilty to Sexual Abuse by a Parent, Guardian, or Custodian, a Felony; Incest, a Felony; Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, a Felony; Distribution of Obscene Matter to a Minor, a Felony; and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Felony. He will be sentenced on September 10, 2020.

Brian Smith entered a plea of no contest to Attempted Murder, a Felony. He will be sentenced on September 10, 2020.

Dennis Keener entered a plea of guilty to Third Offense Driving Under the Influence, a Felony, and Third Offense Driving Revoked for DUI, a Felony. He will be sentenced on August 26, 2020.

Robert Hupp appeared for Trial. His case was set for July 30, 2020 for Entry of a Plea.

Dylan Wagoner entered a plea of no contest to Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, a Felony, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Misdemeanor. His case will come on for Acceptance of the Plea on September 10, 2020.

Laszlo Nemeth and Leila Hardway appeared for Trial. Their case was continued to October 6, 2020 on the State’s Motion.

Larry Harold appeared for Trial. His case was continued to October 6, 2020.

Jeffery Mollohan appeared for Trial. His case was continued to October 6, 2020.

The trial for Joseph Southers and Chasity Bell was continued to October 6, 2020.

Philip Keener appeared for Trial. His case was continued to October 6, 2020.

Roxie Troup failed to appear. The Court issued a capias for her arrest.

Billy Hardway appeared for trial. His case was continued to August 18, 2020.

Shirley Rush entered a plea of guilty to Attempt to Commit Grand Larceny, a Felony. He will be sentenced on September 22, 2020.
