HIJACKED BY GUN - A Charleston man has been charged in an armed carjacking Saturday night, Charleston police say.

Myzaya Pierre Chapman, 18, is accused stealing a woman’s car at gunpoint, according to a news release.

Police said Chapman was stopped in the vehicle shortly after and attempted to run away. A firearm was recovered in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, the news release said.

The incident happened about 9 p.m. in the 800 block of Springdale Drive.

Chapman is charged with first degree robbery and fleeing on foot. He is being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
