He was born August 8, 1954 in Roane County, a son of Billie Potts Nichols of Spencer and the late Waldo Nichols.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Miller.

He was a welder, avid fisherman and musician.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Millie "Mell" Nichols of Spencer; two daughters, Le Anna Nichols of Charleston WV and Darcy Fisher of Spencer; two sons, Lonnie Nichols of Ripley WV and Sam Nichols of Spencer; five grandchildren; sister, Linda Nichols McCarty of Spencer; brother, Mitchell Nichols of Spencer.

Family and friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation.
