ELEANOR McCOY - Gambier, Ohio

Eleanor McCoy, 77, of Gambier, Ohio, formerly of Belpre, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2002, at Country Court Nursing Center, Mount Vernon, Ohio.

She was born in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Walter and Effie Whitlatch Atkinson. In addition to being a lifelong homemaker, she gave many years of very active service to the Belpre Girl Scouts. Her accomplishments as a talented seamstress were well known in the area. She had been a member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Legg and her husband David of Gambier and Patricia Cooke and her husband Ken of Orinda, California; three grandchildren, Sarah Cooke of Orinda, CA, and Jesse Legg and Jordan Legg, both of Gambier; and four sisters, Thelma Woodcock, Nina Snider and Venita Lyons, all of Parkersburg, and Eva Fabian of Los Angeles, CA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George McCoy; and two brothers, William Atkinson and Melvin Atkinson.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 30 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, the Rev. David Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Hur Cemetery, Grantsville. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
