TRUCKS COLLIDE AT HIGH RISK CURVE - Drivers Not Hospitalized

(10/13/2002)

High risk turn has accidents and fatalities

Drivers escaped injury

Both trucks received heavy damage

Two pick-up trucks collided at the high risk curve at Five Forks yesterday morning at 11:30 a.m., causing extensive damage to the vehicles, but no serious injuries to the drivers.

Taken to the hospital for evaluation was Lennie Metz of Five Forks, described in his 80's. John Nichols, 16, of Nobe Road was not injured.

The accident happened in a sharp turn near Reed's Store, where frequent accidents and fatalities have occurred in an area that has poor visibility for oncoming traffic.

The Grantsville VFD responded with Calhoun EMS. State Police in South Charleston advised no officer was covering the county at the time of the accident.
