WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Parkersburg Murder-Suicide, Women Arrested Murder-For-Hire Plan

(08/28/2014)
PARKERSBURG MURDER-SUICIDE - Parkersburg Police are saying that two Parkersburg roommates, both found dead days apart, apparently are dead by homicide-suicide.

It started with the homicide Saturday of Daniel Whipkey, 54, who was found dead with bruises.

An autopsy indicated homicide.

His roommate, Robert Gagliardi, 45, told police that Whipkey had a history of health problems and had been drinking and fell down the steps.

Police were set to interview Gagliardi again Tuesday after discovering evidence of foul play, but instead found his body in Worthington Creek, apparently dead from a gunshot.

MURDER FOR HIRE - Police have arrested the wife of a Fayette County man charged with sex crimes against children.

Sarah Swaggerty, 53, is being held in the Southern Regional Jail on $100,000 bail.

State Troopers arrested Swaggerty and her friend Tammy Bair, 40, over the weekend after Swaggerty allegedly gave an undercover police officer $500 as a down payment to kill her husband, Gale Swaggerty, 67.

He was recently arrested on 21 separate criminal counts involving alleged sexual abuse and assault of children.

Both women are charged with conspiracy to commit murder and solicitation to commit murder.

One of Gale Swaggerty's victims was 6 1/2 months old, according to a criminal complaint.
