FOREST FIRES STRIKE AREA OVER WEEKEND

(04/14/2014)
The Big Otter Volunteer Fire Department and other units responded to a brush fire about midnight Saturday in the Mud Fork area near the Clay-Calhoun line.

The fire was described by 911 as a large fire.

The Clay departments requested assistance from the Upper West Fork VFD about 1 a.m. Sunday.

A brush fire near the mouth of Crummies Creek/Rt. 16 was quickly brought under control Sunday afternoon by the Arnoldsburg VFD.

The department was dispatched about 1 p.m.

Warming temperatures and dryness have increased the risk of forest fires.
