EXPERIENCING THE OUTDOORS - Buck Firearm Season Begins Monday

(11/20/2013)
By Cory Boothe

Buck firearm season begins on Monday, November 25th and lasts until December 7th. During this time, does may also be taken.

This year the bag limit has been increased to two deer a day, however, only one may be a buck. The first deer does NOT need to be checked in before harvesting the second deer of the day. A Class N stamp is required to take an antlerless deer. Two does may be taken in a day. The limit on antlerless deer with a gun is three in Calhoun.

The limit for bucks during rifle season is two. Additional buck stamps must be purchased before Monday. The may be purchased at   www.wvdnr.gov   if stores are closed or you cannot find a license agent with additional buck tags.

Traditionally, around fifty percent of the entire rifle harvest occurs by Wednesday of opening week. The weather forecast calls for opening morning temperatures to be around twenty degrees with the high in the upper thirties. This is perfect weather for hunting.
