The Arnoldsburg VFD responded to a fire adjacent Speedy Mart in Arnoldsburg at 4 p.m. Tuesday, where a trailer with hay erupted in flames.

The fire, close to the main business building, was quickly brought under control.

Employees said a man pulled next to the air compressor on the wall of the business to try to fix a tire that was going flat, when the trailer load of bailed hay caught fire.

Firemen say hay fires are difficult to extinguish, having to scatter the hay using a large amount of water.
