MAN BEAT WITH HIS OWN GUN - Police say they found John Columbus Beane, 58, in the parking lot of Linda's Sports Bar in Sissonville. Beane wielded a shotgun in an attempt to rob the bar, and patrons had wrestled the weapon from him, the gun was found in pieces with Beane badly beaten. Apparently by-bystanders beat the would-be robber. Authorities had already responded to Beane's first failed robbery attempt at nearby Husson's Pizza, which ended after the cashier fled. Beane told the judge that he was in a drunken haze when he tried to rob the two businesses. Beane admitted to two charges of first-degree robbery in Kanawha County Circuit Judge Duke Bloom's courtroom and faces a minimum of 20 years in prison. WOOD COUNTY SITUATION ENDS WELL - A situation Friday in Vienna had authorities blocking off an intersection for nearly four hours. Police responded to a home around 10:30 Friday morning where a woman was described in crisis. They say the woman had a gun and barricaded herself inside a bedroom and refused to come out. By mid-day Friday, police said the situation ended peacefully and no one was injured.
