Carol Lillian Burk Gerwig, 78 - Cedarville

Carol Lillian Burk Gerwig age 78 of Orlando Florida and Cedarville West Virginia, departed this life at 12:09 a.m. Sunday, January 8, 2012 in Florida Hospital, Altamonte Springs FL, following an extended illness.

Born September 24, 1933 in Gilmer County, daughter of the late Frank W. and Mary Wilson Burk.

Mrs. Gerwig was a homemaker and mother, she loved volunteering at her resort in Florida, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and member of the Burk United Methodist Church at Cedarville.

On March 31, 1951 she was united in marriage to Paul James Gerwig, who preceded her in death on September 17, 2001.

Surviving are 5 children, Frank G. Gerwig and wife Linda of Cumberland, Maryland, William P. Gerwig and wife Vonda of Orlando, Florida, Larry D. Gerwig and wife Vicki of Cedarville, West Virginia, Diane C. Powers and husband Michael of Orlando, Michael J. Gerwig and wife Kyong of Orlando; 7 grandchildren, Rachael Bingham, Brandon, Aaron, Shane, and Jerod Gerwig, and Tess and Jason Powers. There are 14 great grandchildren also surviving.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Glenville, West Virginia at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. the funeral hour at the mortuary.

Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is assisting the family of Carol L. Gerwig with arrangements.
