Victor E. Whytsell, 88 - Arnoldsburg

Victor E. Whytsell, 88, of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, passed away September 20, 2011.

He was born at Richardson, Calhoun County, May 20, 1923 a son of the late Edwin and Rettie Starcher Whytsell.

He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways and was an oil field worker. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and served in Company K, 314th Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theatre Ribbon, European, African and Middle Eastern Ribbons. He also served in combat in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a past commander of VFW Post 5959 and was a member of the American Legion Post in Spencer WV. He attended the Letherbark Community Church.

Surviving are his children, Sue Kerby of Smyrna TN, Vickie Walters of Cottageville WV, and Phillip Whytsell of Arnoldsburg; 4 granddaughters; and 4 great grandsons; and a special friend, Helen Lester of Spencer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda June Blosser Whytsell.

Funeral services will be held 12-noon, Friday, September 23 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Rev. Rick Metheney and Rev. Allen Smith will officiate. Interment will be in the Lynch Cemetery at Arnoldsburg with Military Graveside Rites.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services Friday.
