J. Herbert Smith, 91 - Spencer

J. Herbert Smith, 91, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Monday, April 12, 2010, in the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. He was a 1939 graduate of Spencer High School, a graduate of Glenville State College and Marshall University, an Army veteran of World War II, a retired Baptist minister and school teacher.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Jim Ward of Spencer; daughter-in-law, Rosanna Looney of Crab Orchard; two grandsons, Trent Ward of Orlando, FL and Russell Looney of Franklin, TN; one sister, Thelma Jett of Looneyville.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Michael F. "Mike" King officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
