SHOOTING VICTIMS FUNERAL SUNDAY - Charges Yet To Be Brought

Funeral services are scheduled Sunday for shooting victim Jason Mace, 22, of Spencer.

Mace was reportedly shot by his step-father Theodore "Teddy" McClain early Thursday morning. Details related to the incident have not been released, although State Police indicated the case could be centered on self-defense.

McClain has yet to be charged, related to the shooting.

Mace had entered the residence where McClain was present on Triplett Road, after which he was shot in the chest by a hand-gun. He died at the scene.

Survivors include a daughter, Skyler B. Mace; father and step-mother, Joe and Margie Mace; brothers, Aaron, Jacob and Matthew Mace; paternal grandmother, Effie Mace and maternal grandparents, Ronald and Edith Boyles of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Debbie Boyles Mace McClain in 2001. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home in Spencer, with burial in the Mace Cemetery. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
