Roane County is receiving $127,000 for improvements at Spencer Elementary.

Kanawha, Harrison, Berkeley and Tucker counties each received $500,000 grants yesterday. Other grants included $300,000 for Raleigh County, $250,000 for Ohio County, about $423,000 for Putnam County.

The grants will be used to fund projects ranging from a new elementary school library to classroom additions.
