REMEMBERING ILA GREY SNIDER - Founder Of Calhoun High School Alumni Gathering, A Stick To It Woman" Who Kept'em Coming Back

(06/02/2022)

Ila Grey Snider, Former President of Alumni Association

A long-time devotee to the Calhoun County Alumni Association was Ila Grey Snider of Pleasant Hill, who passed away in 2006.

Ila Grey reveled in helping alumni of CCHS return to their roots and relive their school memories.

She and small group of volunteers kept alumni coming back.

In 2002 she was recognized for 50 years service to the Calhoun Farm Bureau.

Ila Grey was a "stick with it" kind of woman, who was a long time attendee of the "Silver Girls," who met a few times a week in a Grantsville restaurant.

KOFFEE KUP LUNCH BUNCH REUNITES - Mary Ann Barrows Returns

April 6, 2001

Years have passed with the "Silver Girls" lunch bunch getting together nearly every weekday in Grantsville. The late Gladys Weaver Stump contended "We're too young to be "Golden Girls." The group, with some members experiencing health problems, made an effort to have lunch, one more time Friday.

Mary Ann Barrows, retired publisher and editor of The Calhoun Chronicle, along with her son David Barrows, joined the group after a considerable absence.

Local resident Ila Grey Snider, who has had some difficulty making the lunch these past few months, was present in good form.

It was a chatty, informal get-together, as usual. Gladys, who died in 1999, said "We talk about everyone who is not there."
