Samples taken from nearly one-thousand Hampshire County deer that hunters killed during this year's two-week firearms season tested negative for CWD, according to the DNR.

The DNR says the occurrence is confined to a limited geographic area of Hampshire County.

Five deer had previously tested positive for chronic wasting disease in Hampshire.
