ONE THOUSAND DEER SAMPLES PROVE NEGATIVE FOR CWD |
(12/22/2005) |
Chronic Wasting Disease in the deer population is not rapidly spreading in WV, at least not yet. Samples taken from nearly one-thousand Hampshire County deer that hunters killed during this year's two-week firearms season tested negative for CWD, according to the DNR. The DNR says the occurrence is confined to a limited geographic area of Hampshire County. Five deer had previously tested positive for chronic wasting disease in Hampshire.
