|Marbie G. Smith, 89, of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away at Miletree Health Care Center in Spencer, Sunday, October 30, 2005.|
She was born September 23, 1916 at Index, WV, a daughter of the late Sylvanus A. and Alice Goff McCartney. On October 16, 1939 she married the late Sewell Smith. She was a graduate of Tanner High School and retired from the Telephone Company having worked in Wheeling, Baltimore and Charleston. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the First baptist Church of Grantsville and the Fell Kennedy Sunday School class.
Surviving are sisters, Myrtle Roberts of Stumptown and Margaret Kent of Machipongo, VA; brothers, Sull McCartney of Glenville, Pell McCartney of Morgantown and Donald McCartney of of Stumptown; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by sisters, Opal Roberts, Dessell Stump, Ella Lambert, Fanny Stump, Gladys Mahaney, Mabel Mahaney, Melva Robinson, Myrtha Morris, Madeline Engle and Mary Bowe; and brothers, Herldon, Kester and Loren McCartney.
Funeral services will held 1 p.m. Friday, November 4 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. Robert Nicholas will officiate. Interment will in the Collins Community Cemetery at Stumptown.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
