CHURCH COLLAPSES INJURING WORKERS |
(03/23/2005) |
Five construction workers were injured yesterday when a church building collapsed at Frame, Kanawha County, a short distance from the Roane County line. At least one of the workers was life-flighted from the scene, according to the Pinch VFD. None of the other workers appeared to be seriously injured. Fire Chief David Wagoner said a crew of nine or ten workers were putting up wood trusses for the roof of the Cross Worship Center along Interstate 79. The workers were about three-quarters of the way done when the collapse occurred at about 11:30 a.m. He says it appears that one truss fell, creating a domino effect that caused the entire structure to come down. The cause hasn't yet been determined. State Police and officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
