Massey Energy's top executive Don Blankenship was the highest-paid executive
with West Virginia connections last year. Massey is the state's largest coal company. Blankenship earned $6.1 million dollars in 2003. His pay package was increased by 56 percent since 2002. The pay increase came despite Massey Energy's loss of $40 million dollars in 2003. |
