BRAXTON MAN AWARDED SETTLEMENT FOR CLAMP INSIDE ABDOMEN |
(05/01/2004) |
A Braxton County man has been awarded about $250,000 because a hospital surgical team left a clamp inside his abdomen. 49-year-old Mark O'Dell had pain when he bent over for seven years after the surgery at Thomas Memorial Hospital. The seven-inch clamp had been sewn inside him in 1995. His wife was awarded $30,000 by the jury for damages to the relationship. The case went to trial because the hospital thought O'Dell was demanding too much money.
