JOBLESSNESS INCREASES IN ALL WV COUNTIES |

| Unemployment increased in nearly every West Virginia county in January, but those areas where joblessness was worst dropped slightly. Calhoun County led eleven counties in double-digit unemployment with 15.3. Monongalia County had the lowest jobless rate. Some of the unemployment was related to the lay-off of seasonal workers. Unemployment continues to be linked to the actual loss of permanent jobs, which have been leaving the state.
