In New Martinsville, 20 cases among teens and adults connected to a party with a large outbreak in Marion County connected to a graduation party.
Nine WVU students-athletes have been tested positive.
More than 59,460 new cases were announced across the United States on Thursday, a single-day record, roaring out of control in several states that did not follow COVID-19 guidelines or opened early.
The report from the DHHR stated that as of 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, there have been a total of 197,081 laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 3,826 total cases and 95 of those cases resulting in deaths.
According to the DHHR’s website, there are currently 1,013 active cases and 2,718 recovered cases in the state.
