WEDNESDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - Calhoun Has Three New Cases Since Last Friday

West Virginia health officials reported 12 deaths from the coronavirus and 49 new positive cases in the update on Wednesday.

The death total for the pandemic is now at 2,891, according to the state Department of Health and Human Resources. The most recent confirmed deaths include a 79-year-old woman from Gilmer County and a 65-year-old woman from Braxton County.

Calhoun has three new cases since last Friday.

Active cases were down to 1,356, which is a decrease of 22 from the last update. The state’s cumulative positive test percentage remained at 5.02% and the daily positive percentage test rate increased from 1.29% Tuesday to 1.33% Wednesday.

There were 79 people hospitalized with the virus in the latest update, with 21 in intensive care and nine on a ventilator. Recoveries were at 159,794.
