WOOD FESTIVAL 2003 BASKET COMPETITION - Attention all Basket Makers

(03/15/2003)
Submitted by Jacqueline Blankenship

The 2003 Wood Festival will be having a "Handmade Basket Competition"! The chosen basket will be displayed each year and will be given a brass marker inscribed with "Wood Festival Basket 2003" and the winning basket creator will receive $100. Second and Third place baskets will receive ribbons, however, will be included in the Basket Bingo selections. All basket entries will become property of the Calhoun Wood Festival and all but the first place basket will be used in a Fund Raising "Basket Bingo".

Rules are simple: Enter as many baskets as you want, any type basket you want, from simple construction to elaborate construction, large or small, any shape. YOU are the creator, anything goes!

Baskets will be judged by Betty Nesslerode and a committee of her choice.

Our goal is a minimum of 22 baskets entered. In order to have 1 basket selected as the WOOD FESTIVAL 2003 Basket, one for raffle and 20 for the Basket Bingo Fund Raiser we need a minimum of 22 baskets entered. If there are not enough baskets entered for the Bingo Fund Raiser, the competition will still be held, however, the fund raiser will not be held and the non winning baskets will be returned to their creators.

The $100 will not be given to the winner if there is no Fund Raising Basket Bingo and if that is the case, the winning basket will be given back to it's creator if requested.
