Columbia Gas has been sued by royalty owners in Roane County, reportedly linked to gas sold from Columbia's deep well drilling.

The plaintiffs claim they were cheated.

The suit claims Columbia engaged in "fraud, deception, concealment, suppression and omission of material facts," failing to pay appropriate royalties to lease holders at fair market values.

The class action suit was filed in Roane County Circuit Court.

The plaintiffs, who filed the suit in behalf of other owners, include Garrison Tawney, Lela Ann Goff, Vernon Goff, Janice E. Cooper, Clifford R. Cooper, Larry G. Parker, John W. Parker, Richard L. Ashley and Myrtle Jones.

They are represented by Masters and Taylor of Charleston and another Charleston firm, Michael Carey, George Scott and Robert Douglas.
