CHLOE WOMAN INDICTED FOR MURDER - Five Charged With Murders In Roane

(02/09/2003)
A Chloe, Calhoun woman has been indicted by a Roane County Grand Jury for first degree murder. Jamie Jarvis, 20, allegedly conspired with her boyfriend in the violent murder of Oral "Sam" Jett, 83, in a remote area near Amma.

Jarvis was one of five persons indicted on murder charges in Roane County, possibly a record in court history.

Roger Eric Jones, 30, of Chloe, a boyfriend to Jarvis, told the Roane County Sheriffs Department he committed the Jett murder. He has also been indicted.

Officers said Jarvis picked-up Jones in a car after he reportedly took the elderly man's money and bludgeoned him to death.

Jarvis has been indicted on the same offenses as Jones, which includes first degree murder, aggravated robbery, malicious wounding and committing a violent act against the elderly.

The indictment does not mean guilt, but indicates sufficient evidence a crime might have been committed.

Jones reportedly told officers he also murdered 68-year-old John Morehead of Arnoldsburg Road, apparently setting his mobile home on fire after beating him to death. Those charges are still pending, according to the State Police.

"Tattoo" Vince Golosow of Tariff was indicted for the murder of Judson Reid of Poca Road. Reid's body was dumped on Pisgah Ridge near Clay, after being shot in Roane County.

Two Spencer parents have been indicted for the alleged murder of their 5-week-old son last June. Dreu Ferguson, 27, and his wife Jessica Ferguson, 22, have been charged with 1st degree murder of a child by a parent or custodian, and child abuse and neglect.

Still missing is Christian Dawn Starcher Seabolt, 18. The young woman disappeared last August without a trace, and is feared dead.

A Calhoun woman, Alicia Schlinder, 24, of Chloe, was indicted by the Roane Grand Jury for obtaining money or goods by false pretenses. Schlinder reportedly used a check on a closed account to purchase a car from R & R Auto Sales in Spencer. Schlinder has also been found guilty of what was reported to be a check writing scam in Calhoun County.
