FLASHBACK: GREATEST GENERATION PARIS PARSONS DEAD, SURVIVED NORMANDY INVASION

By Bob Weaver 2019 Paris Parsons was a fixture in the Minnora, Calhoun County, always busy and connected to the community. The Greatest Generation solider has died at 99. He was inducted in the U.S. Army on November 10, 1942 during WWII and served as an MP in the campaigns at Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He also received two medals. Paris was a Protestant and was baptized by Rev. Lloyd Keith. Paris was among Calhoun's last farmers and was Farmer of the Year in 1967, a survivor of the Great Depression, he enjoyed raising a vegetable garden every year from a young age and into his 90's. He and his wife of 72 years, Orva, enjoyed antiquing for many years, also worked at Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, the old WV State Road Commission and owned a store at Chloe in the 1950s. He was buried in Clark Jarvis Cemetery on White Oak. See complete obituary Paris Foster Parsons
