NEW GILMER WRITERS GROUP INVITING REGIONAL WRITERS

(02/02/2017)
The new regional writer's group, Friendly Fonts, will be meeting regularly at Gilmer Public Library the first Thursday of every month, starting in February. We are offering two times of day currently, so those who work can come at 6 p.m., and those who don't like to drive after dark can come and meet at 1 p.m. in the afternoon. The first meetings will be held on February 02.

The Friendly Fonts Writer's Group is a relaxed, informal gathering of writers to consider, appreciate, discuss and practice the craft of writing. Writers of all genres and all ages are welcome. Meetings will include an introductory reading, a brief lesson, a writing prompt, and time to read or share work for feedback from the group. There is no cost to participate.

Food will not be provided, but writers are welcome to bring snacks or drinks to share. The library is open during these times, and the meeting room has been reserved for our use. A microwave and coffee maker are available—however, coffee, tea, food, cups, and paper plates need to be donated to the library for the group's use.

Lisa Hayes Minney will be leading the writer's group, though the meeting is a venue for open discussion and equal sharing of knowledge. Lisa just received her Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from West Virginia Wesleyan College. She is the publisher and editor of Two-Lane Livin' Magazine, an Assistant Librarian at Gilmer Public Library, and also serves as an adjunct professor at Glenville State College.
