'HEARTWOOD IN THE HILLS' 33RD ANNUAL FALL PROGRAM BEGINS SEPT. 8

Heartwood will begin its 33rd annual Fall program of Classes beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8. Enrollment is now open for all classes.

Teens and adults may be interested in a fitness class to be taught by Amy Nicholas. Also new this Fall will be a dance class for 8 and 9 year old boys and girls who want to begin serious dance study.

Other classes offered will include dance, movement maskmaking, visual arts and creative arts for children. The Performing Arts Program, which offers dance, theatre and performance opportunity, for those ages 10 and up, is also taking new students. Classes will run for 12-weeks concluding on Monday, Dec. 7, with an open house for the Performing Arts Program.

MONDAY - *Performing Arts Program Theatre Dance - Ages 10 and up. Preparation for work on the stage. This is one of two required classes for the Performing Arts Program. 5:00-6:30 p.m. Fee $70.00. Instructor Jude Binder.

Dance/Fitness Technique - Teens and adults. Students will explore fundamental techniques to correctly use any of the new or old fitness programs currently available. We will explore warming up, strength training using body resistance, cardio, stretching and correct body alignment to carry these out in the most effective, safe and efficient way. 7:00-8:00 p.m. Fee $72.00. Instructor Amy Nicholas.

TUESDAY - Young Artists - Nature is our Textbook! - Ages 10 and up. Students will study nature as the season moves and turns. Art projects will develop from this study. Materials will vary from paper to fabric and wire, seeds, leaves and branches. There will be easel work with pastels, crayons, paint, charcoal and pencil. Nature is our textbook. 4:45-6:00 p.m. Fee $70.00 plus $10.00 materials fee. Instructor Jude Binder.

Ballet - Teens, Adults and Seniors. Previous Ballet experience required. 6:30-8:15 p.m. Fee $80.00. Instructor Jude Binder.

WEDNESDAY - *Performing Arts Program Introduction to Ballet - Ages 10 and up. Introduction to basic principles of Classical Ballet. This is one of two required classes for the Performing Arts Program. 5:00-6:30 p.m. Fee $70.00 Instructor Haley Archer.

Introduction to Movement for Health and Centering - Adults and seniors. Learn to move comfortably. Movement for Health and Centering combines rhythmic, meditative and aerobic movement sequences with anatomical analysis to achieve a general upgrading of the body and an increased sense of well being. Previous dance experience not required. 7:00-8:30 p.m. Fee $80.00. Instructor Jude Binder.

THURSDAY - DANCING! - Ages 8 and 9. Class will include first steps towards serious Dance study, creative and interpretive dance, including the use of puppets and masks, and international folk dance. Emphasis will be placed on breathing, balance and self-discipline, the ability to focus. 4:45-5:45 p.m. Fee $60.00 Instructor Jude Binder.

Thursday Dance Class - Teens, adults and seniors. Modern, Caribbean, Ballet, International Folk Dance. 6:30-8:15 p.m. Fee $80.00.

FRIDAY - Creative Arts for Children - Ages 5 and up. Singing, dancing, art projects, reading, creative dramatics, masks, International Folk Dance, conservation education. 4:45-5:45 p.m. Fee $60.00 plus $10.00 materials fee. Instructor Jude Binder.

Maskmaking - Ages 14 and up. Students will be guided through the process of creating tarlatan masks as seen in Heartwood productions. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Class length will vary. Fee $85.00 plus $15.00 materials fee. Instructor Jude Binder.
