NOTICE: RELAY FOR LIFE LOCATION CHANGE TO PLEASANT HILL SCHOOL, "TOON OUT CANCER"

(06/27/2015)
The Calhoun County Relay For Life will be held today, the location has been changed to Pleasant Hill School at 4:00 p.m. with the annual Car Show and registration for Relay.

Kickoff will begin at 5:00 p.m. Many things will be happening including, National Anthem, Flag Raising, Survivor Speaker, Survivor Recognition, Caregiver Recognition, Special Music, Games, and so much more.

On this night the hope is to "Toon Out Cancer" more than ever. Relay team members may dress as cartoon characters to enhance the "Toon Out Cancer" theme.

Teams will be raising money throughout the evening by selling popcorn, hot dogs, pepperoni rolls, sloppy joes, creamed chicken over biscuits, many baked goods, water, soda, and coffee. All are wonderful goodies to enjoy!

An auction for fundraising will be held at 8:00 p.m. something you won't want to miss. Each team will have at least 3 auction items and it is always an exciting time.

The Luminaria Ceremony will be a celebration for those who are survivors and remembering those who have passed on.

Luminarias can be purchased through any Relay team at $5.00 each, either In Memory or In Honor of your loved ones. This part of the Relay is humbling to all who participate.

You have plenty of time yet to be involved, planning to come to the Relay is one way you can help, purchasing Luminarias, helping teams that evening by purchasing food, all of this is a way of helping to find a cure for CANCER, by giving in some way.

We are a combined unit when it comes to Relay, because the main goal is to join together for this cause and support the American Cancer Society, whether it be to fund Research Projects for a cure or for local Prevention Awareness and Services in our own community.

And yes, we do have services for our own people with cancer, that comes from the help you give. For more information please contact Carmen Hathaway 304-422-1472.
