BRAXTON GIRL GETS 'FULL RIDE' WVU SCHOLARSHIP

(05/12/2015)
Since 1987, the WVU Foundation has been providing academic scholarships--full rides to West Virginia University--to a handful of high school students.

Five more students have joined those ranks, including Braxton county native Lindsey Keplinger of Gassaway.

"This has definitely just been completely passed my expectations," said Keplinger. "I'm just really excited to be here and to be a Mountaineer, let alone a Foundation Scholar."

When she was in high school, she started an Instagram account and a blog to help people eat healthier with 14,000 followers.

Following in familial footsteps (her brother is also a scholarship student at WVU), she hopes that she'll be able to eventually attend medical school after graduating.

Members of the Foundation said that these scholars are the state's best and brightest.
