2014: CALHOUN MAN OF MANY CROSSES HAS PASSED - Willard R. Burrows (1939-2014)

(02/08/2021)
A Pleasant Hill man who erected nine crosses to represent the tragic and sudden loss of life along a short stretch of the Rt. 16 highway, has died.

Willard R. Burrows 74, died in Streetsboro, Ohio on February 12, 2014.

Burrows, who retired to his Calhoun roots after retiring from General Motors, erected the crosses in memory of local citizens, seven of the deaths connected to vehicle accidents.

"The crosses are a tribute to those individuals," said Burrows, who acknowledged he knew most of the people who died in front of his house.

Area residents have continued putting remembrances on the crosses, which have the names of the deceased.
