Talk down at the mouth of the Elk continues about the contamination of the water from what was, for practical purposes, an abandoned Pennzoil tank farm along the Elk River where the secondary containment facilities (dikes) were obviously woefully lacking. Back in 2009 federal stimulus money was used to dredge the Elk River so boats could, once again, reach the facility and now the new owners have taken protection under the bankruptcy laws. Those folks want us do vote for the difference between tweele de dee and tweedle de dum, not a real choice that would upset the apple cart that is long overdue in being spilled all about.
