UPDATE: FIRE DESTROYS BEECH AREA DWELLING SATURDAY NIGHT

A house just off Beech Road (Rush Run Road) was struck by fire Saturday night, with the owner of the home first reporting smoke underneath the house.

The Arnoldsburg VFD responded to the fire at at 6:45 p.m., with smoke billowing from the eaves of the house and from underneath the dwelling on their arrival.

The owner of the house from Baltimore, known locally as the Roy Butler place, was in the dwelling when the fire erupted.

The dwelling was completely destroyed.

Fire Chief Derek Wright said firemen remained on scene until 5 a.m. focusing efforts to save adjacent structures, using tens of thousands of gallons of water that had to be hauled to the rural site.

The Upper West Fork and Spencer-Roane VFDs provided mutual assistance, with Minnie Hamilton EMS at the scene.
