CALHOUN SPARED FROM MAJOR STORM - Flooding On Henrys Fork, Lower West Fork

Henry's Fork water blankets field near US 33-119 Water over Henry's Fork Road in numerous places Thursday night Calhoun was spared from a major storm that quickly dumped three inches of rain on Roane County, but Henry's Fork, a stream that originates in Roane brought floodwater down the valley to the lower West Fork of the Little Kanawha. Roads were closed Thursday night along Pink Road and Henry's Fork Road, and water was covering the lower Alitzer Road between Rocksdale and Richardson. Water closes Pink Rd. along Henrys Fork Water nearly covers bridge, closes Altizer Rd. near Rocksdale Power outages reported Thursday night from downed trees in regional counties: Calhoun 183; Roane 141; Braxton 331; Gilmer 252, Ritchiue 566 and Wirt 507. A downed tree on Mt. Zion Ridge about noon Thursday caused a traffic block and a vehicle accident, the driver attempted to divert to keep from missing backed-up cars
