FAYETTE MAN SHOT DEAD - A Fayette County man is dead after a 2 a.m. Wednesday shooting in a trailer park at Glen Jean.

Sheriff Steve Kessler says the victim has been identified as Gary Wayne Smith, 22, of Hilltop.

The shooting reportedly happened after the two men had a physical altercation.

After police arrived, a man came out of a nearby residence holding a handgun. He dropped the weapon and he was arrested without incident.

Arrested is Matthew Paul Graveley, 29, He has been charged with murder and taken to Southern Regional Jail.

The preliminary investigation indicates the incident began when the two men had a physical altercation.

MAN FIRES SHOTS IN HOUSES - A Mink Shoals man has been charged with wanton endangerment after he allegedly fired gunshots that struck his neighbors' homes, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

Aaron Shaffer, 27, was arrested after the 5:30 a.m. incident.

Neighbors reported their homes being struck by gunfire, calling 911, while others reported a man knocking on their doors.

Police said Shaffer walked toward them with a shotgun, but dropped the weapon when ordered to do so.

Police said Shaffer had barricaded his house doors, and had called 911 earlier reporting prowlers. Police found none.
