Opal Mae Valentine, 58 - Grantsville

Opal Mae Valentine, 58, of Grantsville WV, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

She was born February 22, 1954, in Ritchie County to the late Tommy and Indabelle Smith Richards.

Opal worked as an airport security guard and a corrections officer. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt who will be missed by family and friends. She had a passion for butterflies, collecting many of them.

She is survived by her son, Mike Clark, his wife Annette and their children, Robert Joseph, Amanda Stanek, Joshua Joseph, Marcia Joseph, Michael and Nicole Joseph with Opal's great grandson, Miles; son, Chris Clark, his wife Shawna and their children Justin, Haelee, Chris Jr., Gregory, Serena, Alyssa and Savannah; son, Roger 'JR' Valentine and his daughter Nadlia Jalee; sister, Pauline Headley; and brothers, Basil Richards and Larry Richards; two nieces, Laura Hammond and April Drake.

She is preceded in death, in addition to her parents by sisters, Fern Hammond, Lenore Richards, Barbara Carpenter and Jean Strickland.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013, 1:00 pm at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Macfarlan, WV. Friends may call from 12:00-1:00 pm prior to the services at the funeral home.
