(07/02/2012)
Two-year-old Reagen McKown died of injuries sustained when an ATV 'mule' crashed over the hill on Beech Road Saturday night.

The child's father initiated CPR as Calhoun EMS and the Arnoldsburg VFD responded at 10:45 p.m.

The child continued in arrest, suffering multiple trauma, and was taken to Roane General Hospital in Spencer.

A three-year-old sibling also sustained injuries and was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System in Grantsville. No report was available on its condition.

State Police told the Parkersburg News that a mother and two children were riding in a utility vehicle when a dog jumped out, according to Trooper Newman.

"The mother pulled the parking brake and jumped out to grab a dog that jumped out," Newman said, with the vehicle breaking free, rolling down an embankment and hitting a tree.

The accident happened about 300 yards from the family's driveway, about four miles from US 33/119 Liberty Hill.
