Calhoun High School Varsity team played in a tri match at Clay County last Tuesday, Oct. 11. Calhoun was defeated by Clay 25-20, 25-21.

Jordan Mace led the team in service points with 9 points 3 aces; she was followed by Amber Wilford 3 points, 3 aces; Chelsea Hicks 3 points, Kenzie Laughlin 3 points, Rochelle Gerwig 1 point, 1 ace; Sam Church 1 point. Setting: C. The CHS Varsity also participated in the Charleston Catholic Invitational on Saturday October 15.

In pool play Calhoun was defeated by Ravenswood 19-25, 28-26, 15-11 and by Charleston Catholic 25-19, 25-11. Calhoun defeated Herbert Hoover 252-18, 25-17. Calhoun was seeded 8th out of pool play and faced the number one seed Charleston Catholic in the first match of bracket play. Calhoun fell to the eventual tournament champions, and defending state champs, 25-19, 25-19.

Calhoun plays for the LKC Championship on Saturday at Roane County High School. Calhoun is the number two ranked team in the LKC South and they will face the number LKC North team, Tyler Consolidated in the Championship Semi-finals. Number one south team Wirt County will face, number two North team Williamstown in the other conference semi-final. Time for match play has yet to be announced.
