Katherine D. Hancock of Elizabeth was taken to a Parkersburg hospital were she was pronounced dead.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth.

Police said she was traveling north on WV-53 in a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer when she drove off the road and struck a tree near the intersection of WV-5, according to a press release from the West Virginia State Police.

Officials indicated speed could have been a factor in the wreck.
