Gladys Sharon Weekley, 70, of Walton, died Monday, February 28, 2011, in
the CAMC-General Hospital, Charleston.
She was born November 28, 1940, at Walton, the daughter of the late Shelva
and Lona M. Harper Hunt.
Sharon was a retired quality control inspector at Kellwood Co., Spencer.
She was an active member of the Walton Union Church, where she served as the Baptist
secretary and past Sunday school treasurer. She was a 1959 graduate of Walton High School
and a member of the WHS Alumni Association. Also, she was a trustee of the Mt. Moriah
Cemetery, Walton. Sewing was her favorite hobby.
Survivors include her husband, whom she married August 20, 1965, Paul K.
"Buddy" Weekley of Walton; son and daughter-in-law, James K. and Cherrity A. Weekley of
Walton; a grandson, Lucas Weekley, and a granddaughter on the way, Daphne Weekley (in five
weeks); and several cousins, including Betty and Dee Anderson, Willadene Harper and Garry
and Veda Harper, who were all especially close.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Jerry Board and the Rev. Jerry Malona
officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8
p.m. at the funeral home.
