CALHOUN INVITATIONAL SET FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON

The Second Annual Calhoun Invitational cross country meet is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Calhoun County Park.

The meet will start at 4:30 and will include some of the top teams from around the state including Williamstown and Doddridge. Other teams likely to attend include Gilmer, Roane, Charleston Catholic and Calhoun. The middle school division will also include several of the top area teams.

Calhoun will come into the meet after two straight road meets to open the season.

Last Saturday the Red Devils competed in the Chik-Fil-A at Mineral Wells.

In the girls division senior Tracy King led Calhoun with a time of 28:57 for 73rd place overall while sophomore Kaitlen Collins was 81st.

In the boys division the Red Devils were led by junior Zach Hanshaw with a time of 19:56 and 54th place. He was followed by first-year runner Mark Bedree with a time of 28:05.

In middle school competition William Baker led the way with a time of 12:59.

Two weeks ago the Red Devils ran in the Autumn Classic at St. Marys.

Hanshaw was again the leader with a time of 20:23 while Collins led the girls with a time of 33:42. Both Collins and Hanshaw pared time off their first meet in the Chik-Fil-A.

Baker led the middle school boys with a time of 14:00 while David Overbay came in at 15:09.
