WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Kanawha Man Attacked With Machete

(01/14/2009)
A MACHETE ATTACK - A Rand man is in jail after allegedly attacking another man with a machete.

Algernon C. Tynch, 42, of Rand, has been charged with malicious wounding for an attack on 39-year-old Kenneth Simms Monday.

Police said Simms was at his girlfriend's house in Rand a little before 10:45 p.m. when Tynch arrived and the two men got into an argument.

Tynch left and went to his house, then returned with a machete.

Reports say Tynch hit Simms in the right temple, cutting him severely and fracturing his skull.

Police believe Tynch and Simms had dated the same woman.

Simms was taken to a Charleston hospital. Tynch was arrested for malicious wounding.

WEAPONS VIOLATIONS - A Kanawha County man was indicted on federal weapons violations.

28-year-old Nathan Oxley had guns and ammunition after being convicted of domestic violence, a misdemeanor.

Oxley was sentenced to two years in jail last June after deputies say he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend.

Investigators say he showed up at her house, told her to come with him, and when she didn't, they say he slapped her in the face, pulled her from the house and into his car.

The criminal complaint says Oxley threatened to kill her.

If convicted on the weapons charges, Oxley could face up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
