Glenville, WV - Nashville independent recording artist The Redding Brothers will be debuting their newest stage show concept - an all-digital surround-sound rock concert experience - at Glenville State College on Thursday, August 21st. The show is believed to be the first concert of its kind in West Virginia.

The band, a trio of brothers, Micah (26), Josiah (24), and Gabriel (21), originally from Putnam County, West Virginia performs a mix of rock and alternative music similar to bands such as Matchbox Twenty, U2, Switchfoot, and Collective Soul.

The Redding Brothers received a lot of attention this summer as they were selected by Armed Forces Entertainment for a 25-day tour of U.S. military installations in the Middle East. Since returning home, the band has been gearing up for a college tour, which they will officially kick off at Glenville State College on August 21st.

"We started piecing together the idea of a better sound concept around February of this year," said Gabriel, the band's drummer. "We were growing tired of the 1940s-esque 'telephone operator patchbay' nature of sound equipment, which, despite all the rapid computer advancements made over the past few decades, has generally not changed at all."

"We put together a system that's completely computer-controlled — all-digital from instrument to speaker —and tested it out all over the Middle East," added Josiah, the bassist. "Then we realized there was really nothing stopping us from taking it to the next level with digital surround sound."

The band says surround sound has been done in live concert settings before, but only by three or four of the largest and most progressive stage acts in the world (such as U2, Blue Man Group, and Yes). It has never been done in a live concert in West Virginia according to their research.

The Redding Brothers will perform their cutting edge rock show on Thursday, August 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the Glenville State College Fine Arts Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The concert, sponsored by GSC Student Activities and the Best Western Glenville Inn & Conference Center, is free for students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
