The Flood Warning continues for the Little Kanawha River area today as water is rising to an estimated crest of 40.6 feet.

Flood stage is 36 feet.

Calhoun OES Director Kathy Wood attempted to meet with Gov. Manchin today, but could not connect with his party because of high flood water. Manchin flew into Glenville in a chopper to look at flood damage first hand.

Wood said if individuals have damage, they should call and leave their number at 354-9272.

The Calhoun County Wood Festival has been "moving along just fine," said president Judy Powell, with booths open, events on time, and the carnival opening.

Sunny and humid summer weather has arrived, replacing the storms.

Grantsville and area water has been higher than predicted.

Water has covered most areas used to flooding in the vicinity, including Wayne Underwood Field, low areas along the river in North Grantsville, and low spots up and down Rt. 5 along the river.

The river will fall below flood stage after midnight.
