Calhoun had a record number of Democrat voters, at least a record in recent years, turn out to vote was almost 50%.

The Republican Party had a 31% voter turn-out.

DEMOCRAT RESULTS:

House of Delegates/District 33, Ronald R. Blankenship 810; Larry Dale Cottrell 418; Rick W Frame 216; David Allen Walker 129; Diann Clothier 93, with the results to be determined by voters in Gilmer and Clay Counties.

Newcomer Scottie "Chip" Westfall (858) was elected to the Calhoun Commission, defeating incumbent Rick D. Sampson (769).

Former sheriff Alan Parsons (919) defeated another former Sheriff William Stemple (619), with Eugene Stevens (146) coming in third.

Incumbent Assessor Jason Nettles (1,217) defeated Jim Lemon (449).

Prosecuting Attorney Shelly Morris DeMarino (1,191) was unopposed.

County Surveyor, Doyle Hupp, Jr. (1318) was also unopposed.

Incumbents Teresa Robinson (1,252) and Richard G. Postalwait (950) were re-elected as Calhoun magistrates, defeating Judy Wagoner Bell (301).

SCHOOL BOARD RACE:

In the Calhoun Board of Education race, Cynthia Dale (1,079) defeated Ralph Cunningham (942) to take one seat, with Joy M. Starcher (1,058) taking the second seat.

Lone Republican candidate Lyle Kerby for County Commission received 293 votes.
