In the ever rising salaries of corporate executives, whose boards always say "He deserves it."

Norfolk Southern Chief Executive Wick Moorman's compensation increased nearly 11 percent to almost $12 million dollars last year, despite low profits by the Virginia-based railroad.

Norfolk Southern also gave Moorman more than 66 percent more money _ $153,570 for perks last year.

Moorman received $41,199 to cover taxes on his perks, which included $17,000 for life insurance premiums and $31,700 in charitable contributions on his behalf, among other things.
