LADY RED DEVILS HAVE TOUGH ROAD TRIPS

The CHS Lady Red Devils Volleyball team have struggled on the road, dropping three of their last four road trips.

Wirt County swept the team 25-23, 25-20, 25-20 on Thursday, October 4.

Scoring service points: Tessa Batten 2 pts, 1 ace; Kayla Hixon 3 pts, Caytee Prusack 3 pts, 3 aces; Jocelynn Cunningham 4 pts; Arla Lane 6 pts,1 ace;Amy Ashley 2 pts, 2 aces; Melissa Jarvis 5 pts, 1 ace. Setting: Jocelynn Cunningham 52/70 with 14 assists. From the attack line: Tessa Batten 21/22 with 8 kills; Caytee Prusack 10/12 with 1 kill; Arla Lane 14/19 with 3 kills; Melissa Jarvis 9/9 with 2 kills; Kayla Hixon 3/6. Blocks: Batten 2; Lane 2. Digs: Ashley 2, Batten 3, Prusack 2, Hixon 1.

The JV team was also swept by Wirt 25-23, 25-19.

On Monday, October 8 the team traveled to Parkersburg and was defeated by Parkersburg Catholic 28-30, 27-25, 25-16, 25-21.

The JV was swept by Catholic 25-16, 25-19.

The next night found the team traveling to Flatwoods to play Braxton. The varsity dropped the match in four games 25-21, 25-19, 17-25, 25-21.

The JV lost to Braxton 25-18, 25-21.

The Varsity record in now 9-7 and the JV record is 3-9.

Calhoun traveled to Clay Tuesday (scores not yet available) and will be home on Thursday hosting a consolation game of the LKC tournament.

Calhoun ranked 3rd in the LKC South with play Ravenswood for 5th/6th place in the conference.

Calhoun will host conference championships on Saturday, October 20 with matches featuring the top two teams for the north & south. Tyler, Ritchie, Roane and Wirt will begin match play at 10 a.m.
